Seizure of a private car by customs
According to the applicable sanctions of the European Union, the acquisition, import or transfer of certain goods with which Russia earns substantial revenue is directly or indirectly prohibited.
According to the annexes of the corresponding EU Council Decision, passenger cars are in principle also affected by the sanctions.
If a private vehicle is seized, the owner may be able to take action to recover the vehicle. The owner must appeal against the seizure or contact a competent authority to obtain further information.
However, it should be noted that the return of the vehicle depends on what specific sanctions have been imposed and what legal action needs to be taken.
To determine the options, it is advisable to seek advice from a lawyer.
